Meet the friendly staff at DALLAS HIGHWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL
I founded Dallas Hwy Animal Hospital in 2001.
Born and raised in GA, my blood is way too thin to live outside of the Southeastern United States. Just 45 minutes away from the busiest airport in the world, 30 minutes from the many attractions Atlanta has to offer, 1 hour from the foothills of The Appalachian Trail, and 4 hours from the beach, Cobb County is an ideal place to live and raise a family.
I love medicine. The body’s ability to heal under the correct circumstances still surprises me to this day.
I also think that the human animal bond is incredible. Animals never cease to amaze me. Years ago, I was taught that animals do not experience emotion. As an animal lover, I never agreed with this hypothesis. Now, thanks to the advancements in science (functional MRI, etc.), it has been proven that many animals experience the same emotions as their human counterparts. I know how much our furry (or feathered, or scaley) friends mean to us. I also understand the trust my clients place in me every day and do not take that responsibility lightly.
Dr. Laura Roberts works as an associate veterinarian at Dallas Highway Animal Hospital. Dr. Roberts grew up in nearby Acworth, Georgia and has always had a love of animals. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Georgia Tech, followed by her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. She is a fan of both UGA and Georgia Tech football teams, but can't help but be loyal to her first alma mater when the two teams play one another. Dr. Roberts started working here right after graduating from vet school in 2018. She very much enjoys meeting and providing care for all of our wonderful patients, and especially looks forward to puppy and kitten visits. She also enjoys general wellness care, as well and surgery and dentistry. Dr. Roberts' shares her home with her husband Mike, three dogs, and two cats. After working as a veterinary assistant for many years, Mike graduated from nursing school and currently works as an ICU nurse. He is also an avid animal person. They have two hound mixes named Copper and Boone, who are both good boys and love to talk a lot. Last but not least, they have a little terrier mix named Tillie, who is the resident princess and rules the roost. Along with the dogs, they have two long-haired cats named Ollie and Fern, who are very sweet and can be very entertaining. When she is not working, Dr. Roberts enjoys feeding and watching birds in her backyard, hiking with her dogs, baking yummy treats, and learning about historic houses.
Dr. Zack Tietjen is a 2003 graduate with high honors from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up all over the United States as his father was restationed with the Army. Dr. Tietjen enjoys cheering on the Braves and Atlanta United whenever there is a quiet moment around the house. He is excited about this opportunity to help the four-legged friends of Dallas Highway Animal Hospital.

Born and raised in Georgia. I have always wanted to help animals even when I was little, trying to convince my parents to take in all the stray animals we see. I got into the veterinary field in 2020 and have loved every second of it. I have 2 dogs, Bella (6 years old) and Brandi (4 years old). When I am not working, I am either hanging out with my family and my boyfriend or finding something to do outdoors. Whether it’s fishing or going to Braves games or when I’m feeling lazy just laying around watching Netflix.
I was born in Montana but raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. How did I end up in Georgia? Well, I wanted to be closer to my family. Growing up having dogs, I knew from a young age this is the field I wanted to work in. I have been working with animals since graduating high school in 2016. Started as a pet sitter moving to boarding and now here as a veterinary assistant. I wouldn’t be here doing what I love to do if it wasn’t for the love and support from my family.
I have two dogs of my own one male named Rocky (a toy fox terrier and according to his DNA test a hint of Bull mastiff) and one female named Dixie (a Dachshund mix). I do enjoy watching baseball and I love watching football. My favorite baseball team is definitely the Braves, but my favorite football team is Tennessee which may come to a surprise since I have never lived in Tennessee.
After being born in New York, Tori was moved to Georgia by her family when she was young and ultimately raised here. Whitley joined the team in April of 2023. She has been a veterinary assistant since 2012. Since a very young girl, her passion has been for animals. She showed horses as a teen and helped out with the family grooming salon. He is a French Bulldog named Bruno. In her free time she enjoys going camping or going for a hike.
